We bought this for our daughter for Christmas (08) as a substitute for the guinea pig she was desperate for. It worked! It's a totally different kind of pet to have and all three of our children (aged 7,6 & 3) have been interested in the stick insects.

We were unsure at first because you have to pay for postage on the eggs and we though we were going to end up with some sort of scam - buy the kit, buy the eggs etc... but actaully once they arrived that's it! The eggs took a while to hatch out (from 6-9 weeks) and we ended up with 7 live insects who are still growing and fascinating the children. We changed to a solid glass tank because the net box supplied was a bit flimsy for opening and changing the sticks every couple of weeks but we're very happy with kit and are thinking of getting the ladybirds next.

I agree with the other reviewer. This is not a stick insect kit, because you have to buy the insect eggs separately (like the ladybird and other kits). This is a habitat with an information booklet and small tools. It feels almost like buying a battery powered toy and finding out it that batteries aren't included.

This kit does not include the insect eggs and will cost at least £4.50 plus post if applicable.
