I discovered this author by accident - the title "Little Fuzzy" caught my attention when browsing a "Free Book" list on another site. I like vintage SF and this is the best kind. It's not exactly action packed, but thoughtful and thought provoking. The story line is similar to that in Orson Scott Cards "Speaker for the Dead", although the writing style is very different. Little Fuzzy is just one of the many stories in this book.

If you like old style story telling of a simple story and a very affordable price, this is an excellent buy.

An interesting surprise 19 April 2011

Format:Kindle Edition
This was also an impulse purchase by me, I wasn't familiar with Piper's work previously. Never mind, this was a really good buy; the short stories are well crafted, they may be a touch dated to an ultra-modern reader but when you catch the rhythm the stories work really well. The narratives are interesting, sometimes quite surprising and a previous reviewer describing them as "thoughtful" is spot on.

For the price there's no excuse not to download, you're sure to find something in here that makes it worthwhile.

And ... now for the Kindle bit: the download works well, navigation around quite a lengthy work is simple via an effective table of contents. As many of you will know by now, e-books are not always friendly to work with - this one is good!

good read 20 Mar 2011

a good read, some of the stories are very dated now and with so much other sci-fi out there this may be a bit slow for some but i enjoyed the stories.
