The Classic Harmonica 29 Aug 2008

This selection of classical music for the much under-rated harmonica is easy to listen to and relaxing but doesn't have the sparkle of the disc containing Tommy Reilly's rendering of the Spivakovsky concerto and other works by Arnold and Moody. But it still has the freshness and virtuosity associated with this virtuoso player and should be a welcome addition to anyone interested in collecting classical harmonica music. One of the few recordings available in this genre and well worth the price.

Delightful and beautiful virtuouso harmonica! 2 Feb 1999

I like to be surprised and find unique music done well when shopping for music sometimes.

Tommy Reilly plays beautifully and I had no idea how lovely a harmonica could sound or be played as an instrument and how it would do with a symphony.

This is as good as any other virtuouso music and the harmonica seems to be some combination of flute and oboe to me. There is a bit more character and richness to the harmonica than can be found with the flute due to the intrument itself.

I think that if you like oboe or french horn or bassoon you will very much like listening to Tommy Reilly with an orchestra.

His quality of playing fits well. Imagine you will find it delightful and professional. There really isn't much other harmonica I know of anyway to compare it to.

I am not a serious dedicated music student, but I do think I know when something is done well, and won't offer any technical comparisions beyond that is sounds wonderfully professional.
