Perfect Pool-side companion, 5 Sep 2003
If like me and many other Triathletes, you find the swimming the hardest part of the race, let alone all the training you want to do, then this book is definitely for you.I picked it up in the US before I could hold of it here and have been using it for about 3 months now. It doesn’t include any tips on tech. or too much depth on what sessions to do, when and how many etc, but other books (such as the Triathletes Training Bible cover this amply). However, it does contain more sessions that you could shake your fins at. This includes a wide variety of types of sessions to get you in top shape for you next race. Everything from aerobic, force, speed, anaerobic and more. The beauty of it is that you don’t need to ever get board of doing the same 5 - 10 sessions on rotation. This has helped me do the training I know I need to do, as each session is different to the last 20 you've done, all without having to tax your "rubber swim hat covered brain" at all. All of this is geared to triathletes so the sessions are of a decent distance too (anywhere between 2-3.5km). A guide to pace for each workout is given to help you get the right pace for each set plus times for rest, set intervals and goal race pace. 2 distance options are given for every workout to try and cover from Sprint to IM training, though I would say it’s most suited to Olympic distance triathletes. At this price, you can’t go wrong, and with the great design of waterproof pages, it makes the perfect pool companion
