I love this book, inspiring and beautiful, it's also easy and practical to use in my day to day life. Before I read this book and started working with the Kanes I spend most of my time worrying about the future, thinking about how I did things wrong and trying to hold things together. Working on Yourself Doesn't Work showed me a complete new possibility. With the help of the Kanes' three simple ideas, their amazing clarity, humor and empathy the loud chatter in my head calmed down. Worries, fear and guilt dissolved and life became peaceful and fulfilling.
I never thought it would be an alternitve, but a magical life truly is a possibility, it lives in the moment, beautiful and simple.
If you're looking for more magic in your life or simply feel there must be more...read this book!

I enjoyed this book. Its simplicity was a joy. I like the 3 principles - what you resist persists, only one thing can exist in a space at one time and allowing things to complete themselves.

The main benefit for me was awareness and the reasoning of being non judgemental as we observe ourselves - our thoughts, feelings and actions. They call this the anthropological approach. Certainly struck a chord with me!

A second reading is a must as there are always parts one misses on a first reading. Often there can be a desire to make answers to how we are living our lives seem complicated; for me the easy to read and understand points were exactly what I wanted.

The distinction between decision and choice was a good example and I have used the squirrel tale often since to explain the difference.

As ever books - like most things - come along at the right time. Whether we are ready is often down to us rather than the book. This book came along at the right time for me.

This book from Ariel and Shya Kane fascinated me from the first moment and touched my heart. The authors write in a very wise and humorous way that takes you on an exciting and fullfilling journey to yourself. After reading the first few pages, I already felt a lightness, an ease of mind, that still lasts.

Their 3 Principles of Transformation are mind-blowing and pull you directly and instantaneously into the moment. I understood, that the present moment of now is perfect and that this moment is all there is. I am feeling a shift in me and find myself more powerful, productive ever since... I am enjoying my life very much.

I highly recommend this book to everybody who wants to take an honest look at their life and wants to discover themselves. The result will be awesome!

I have read several books and watched DVDs on self improvement. I have also been on psychological courses and studied counselling etc. This book is so true that we need to be in the NOW. I would thorougly recommend this to anyone and if you apply it to your life it does work.

Its not the be all and end all as the title suggests. You are where you are, and this book endorses that and will certainly help you to here and now. The three principles are simple but very effective. The book is based on consciousness of oneself as if you were observing somebody else - very effective since the human condition is inherently master at seeing the flaws in others - but we have to earn the right to see areas for improvement within us. To allow oneself to observe without judgement (ie to observe with pure consciousness) untangles the knots.

The story telling within the book is a bit long winded but you dont have to read them again on your second or third read of the book.

Suggest you also read Tony di Mello's "Awareness" the books go very well together.

I really, really loved this book. Not only does it have arguably the best title of a self-help book EVER, but what is inside actually enabled me to stop working on myself!! A complete and total miracle in itself, I must say :) This book lifted me up to a new level in my life and I often find myself dipping back into it for refreshers. It gave me wonderful insights into myself and my lifestyle and how to be much happier! I loved the real-life examples, the stories the author's share about their lives and the insights from their workshops. It touched my heart, as well as my head, and many of the moments in the book keep coming back to me... Reading this book inspired me to read their other books: How to Have a Magical Relationship & Being Here - both absolutely fantastic and highly recommended too!

I laughed out loud the first time I saw the title of this amazing book. As a person who had been working on herself for 30+ years, I knew there was truth within the pages of this book, just by reading the title. Ariel & Shya Kane's 3 simple ideas have truly transformed my life. What a relief! I have found satisfaction in who I am. My life is excellent. It's amazing how easy the lifestyle of living in the moment truly is. I have found well-being by reading this book.

If you're ready to see just how easy enlightenment really is, I highly suggest reading "Working On Yourself Doesn't Work, 3 Simple Ideas That Will Instantaneously Transform Your Life". Next you should check out Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment. This is another book by the Kanes that will transport your life into the moment. Their #1 internet radio show called "Being Here" on The 7th Wave Network channel on Voice America.com is another fun avenue to discover the magic of the moment. Check it out!
