Product Description

Working with the energy system known as the chakras has long been part of Eastern esoteric teaching, which propounds that connecting with your chakras enables growth, healing and balance to take place in all areas of your being - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. This book explains that much chakra work is of a self-help nature, and sets out to show readers how they can do a great deal to change their lives through simple exercises and creative and colourful visualizations and meditations. Ruth White runs a counselling practice and workshops in the UK and Europe, including Russia and Hungary. Her other books include "Gildas Communicating", "Seven Inner Journeys", "The Healing Spectrum" and "A Question of Guidance".

About the Author

Ruth White is an accredited psychotherapist and maintains a private practice. She is also a spiritual consultant, working as a channel for guidance from Gildas - her well-known discarnate Guide, running groups in the UK and Germany and a correspondence course in spiritual growth. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

This book is a very practical guide to the chakras - energy centres in the body. It is easy to read and easy to use for westerners who may not know very much about the chakra system which I believe started in India thousands of years ago.

It basically shows how connecting with your chakras enables growth, healing and balance to take place in each area of you - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Ruth White explains that much chakra work can be carried out by yourself at home. By connecting with your chakras through exercises, visualisations and meditations you can glean many insights into your own being. Strengths, gifts and abilities will, she assures the reader, begin to emerge.

There is a very good diagram of the 7 best known chakras and how energy flows from positive to negative and up and down the central column.

Each chakra has its own chapter with its associated colours, element, glandular connection, quieting fragrances, stimulating fragrances, crystals and gemstones etc.

Ruth White also describes guided, visual meditations for each chakra. However, I prefer simply to use my normal breathing meditation where I concentrate on simply being aware of my breath. When my mind wanders - as it does - and I realise, then I simply return my awareness back to my breathing and feeling the air going into my nose and back out again. With practice this really does work to bring about a state of relaxed meditation.

If you are spiritually-minded and interested in learning more about the chakra system then you may enjoy reading this book, as I have.

Outstanding introduction to the human energy system 7 Sep 2004
By Nancy Ives - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Although in harmony with the yogic concepts of the chakra system, this book outlines a mainly Western approach. There is emphasis on enabling the reader to have direct experience of the chakras and of the energy flow in the body. For each energy center (which is what the chakras are) there is an inspiring case history from the author's healing practice, a discussion of the psychological impact and developmental age associated with it and of the relationship of that chakra to the physical body, advice for fragrances, colors and crystals useful in working with it, and a guided meditation. Each chapter closes with an affirmation relating to the issues surrounding that particular chakra. Interestingly, she includes chapters about newly emerging energy centers outside of the traditional seven chakras.

This book is a wonderful example of practical, down-to-earth spirituality. It is non-sectarian, although the author does freely refer to discarnate spirit guides. Her voice is authoritative and compassionate. She manages to synthesize energy medicine, psychology, aromatherapy, crystals, and self-actualization spirituality within a profoundly approachable, usable form. Highly recommended for beginning and experienced students of the human energy system alike.

Opening New Channels 12 Aug 2007
By Mrs. B. M. Curwood - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is full of practical information which can be of real help to the healing practitioner. It has information which is detailed and clear. It is dense though, I had to concentrate and give it several goes. I use it as a reference book, and it has provided good advice and suggested new ways to look for answers to the problems people present in practice. It has a spiritual content which may put some off, but even so it is worth reading the book for the information and advice offered. How Ms White comes by her knowledge is incidental to the quality of the information, which is of real practical worth. Ros

Saved my life 4 Mar 2005
By daveklein222 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Before I read this book, my chakras were TOTALLY screwy. Now it is SMOOTH SAILING. Using this book as a reference, I made a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that aligned EACH of my chakras with its own UNIQUE crystal, aroma, and guided meditation. Then I ran a linear optimizer (using Tools>Goal Seek... in Excel) which was designed to MAXIMIZE my yogic harmonies whilst MINIMIZING my karmic/vedic interferences.

The results: AWESOME. I have achieved enlightment, and am capable of aura divination AND astral projection (levitation is still a bit tricky.) A worthwhile project, and it would have been impossible but for the advice in this book.

Experienced programmers wanting to do the same may want to use Microsoft Access.
