Product Description

Review

The Editors are to be congratulated on marshalling a collection of chapters that provides, in distilled form, much of the essential evidence base and some inspiration to help reinvigorate practitioners in their everyday practice.

Mental Health

Product Description

In today's mental health services, there is a pressing need for practitioners to place greater emphasis on working with users of services and to use skills that have a sound theoretical basis. This book focuses on evidence-based practice but reflects that, in mental health, the best evidence is the personal experience of the user. Many publications explore theoretical aspects of service delivery or provide an in-depth analysis of specific clinical interventions. However, how practitioners comprehensively amalgamate theory with their practice is often missing. This book fills that gap and seeks to guide, plan and suggest down-to-earth treatment ideas for individuals on a day-to-day basis.

I have just received this book today and wish I had access to it from the outset of my training. It is such a useful resource for students and qualified staff have also praised it.

It is up to dated, evidence based and covers most areas that are relevant to mental health practice today. It is easy to read yet has the depth needed.

I love this book. It is so well written and as another reviewer said easy to read. It is so practical and captures what it is like to have a serious mental illness and how the practitioner can help. Read it alongside Norman and Ryrie or Fortinash but don't go past it.

A useful addition to the library of any nursing student studying mental health. Covers all aspects of serious mental illness and develops the readers knowledge to inform practice
