You've got a router - its a motor that spins very very very fast and you put razor sharp cutters in it - and you're not really certain what you're doing with it - DANGEROUS TIMES.
However with this book (other good router books are available!) you have a very good chance of keeping your fingers, not being blinded and coming out of the project with a finished piece rather than matchsticks.
It shows you how to set thenm up, adjust them, start using them. use them efficiently & safely, produce well finished pieces and enjoy routing.
Will you need to practise? YES of course you will, this shows you how to approach the job, it doesn't do it for you!
Is your router good enough? Often sadly the answer is NO! You don't get a super high quality tool for £50 with all the accessories. You can pay £300 for a quality router and really good cutters can cost an arm and a leg. If you start with a cheap router and find it useful, you'll probably choose to upgade anyway.
This book should be a compulsory purchase with any router unless you can prove you're experienced enough to use a router safely.

A great book full of very useful information and VERY well written. I would recommend this book to all those starting out as new router users as well as for the more advanced users.

although written for the American woodworker,this book easily gives advice which can be used by anyone learning the principles of routing

My partner inherited I workshop of woodworking tools. Amongst which was a router. He used it for 1 or 2 simple jobs but felt that it could do more. Read more

Slightly dated
Overall this is an excellent book, but it is now a little dated (pub. 2004, written before that). The text & pictures are excellent. Read more

Working with routers
This is a great series of books, clear and simple. It does take you to some fairly advanced techniques as well. If you get them second hand, for workshop use then all the better. Read more
