I'm a second year mental health nursing and social work student. Just finished a placement on an acute ward where the MHA is in constant use. There were a few bits that kept on cropping up that I didn't know about. Looking in my other book on the mental health act was just confusing! The language sometimes talks in riddles!

This book breaks the sections down in an easy to understand format. Sections are split into community, hospital, forensic and forensic restricted, so its easy to find what you're looking for. For each section, the book gives a summary, legal criteria, powers, who is involved, time limits etc. Its all very clear.

I've got law lectures coming up and I know this book will come in handy!

Exactly what I was told it would be, informative and easy to follow without being patronising.
Would certainly recommend it.

I saw this book on one of the wards I was working on. Explains the complicated act of 1983 well and breaks it down into understandable chunks. Im in year 2 at the moment and I refer to it alot when doing evidence.
