Product Description

Product Description

A breakthrough guide for fathers, mothers, and businesses on managing one of the major stresses on both families and organizations.. As we near the end of the 1990s, it becomes increasingly clear that women are not the only ones faced with the challenges of balancing work and family. Working Fathers is the first hands-on guide with a proven and effective game plan to help fathers as well as mothers, employees as well as managers, succeed in managing the competing demands of home and work. Based on extensive research conducted by The Fatherhood Project( at the Families and Work Institute and on James Levines DaddyStress(/Daddy Success seminar for corporations, this book shows how work and family are not separate spheres for men, how getting it right at home actually contributes to productivity on the job, how father friendliness benefits working mothers, and how forward-looking companies are making their workplace father friendly for competitive advantage. Working Fathers is filled with strategies to stay connected to your child whether youre at home, at work, or traveling; make quality time for you and your spouse; and connect with teachers, group leaders, coaches, and other important people in your familys life to help your kids succeed. It is the first guide to show both individuals and organizations how to create the father-friendly workplace.Corporate America is at last awakening to the need for balance between work and family as one of the major challenges of the twenty-first century. Working Fathers will play a major role in achieving that balance for individuals and business organizations alike.

A wonderful book outlining what is wrong with male-dominated business society today. If you are not a working father, some of the statistics will surprise you, otherwise you'll know exactly what the author is talking about.

Also listed are some simple (almost too simple!) suggestions on how to create a more father-friendly environment, not only for you, but for your employer and fellow employees as well.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect not having read any "partenting books" but this one was a great, great surpirise. I bought four copies two for a friend and two for my brothers. They too love it!
