Product Description

Product Description

Since the original publication in 1983, Working Boats of Britain has become the classic reference work in its field. Much more than a descriptive catalog of British small craft, McKee details different techniques for boat building and discusses designs and why they vary so greatly.

Magnum opus on boats 12 Oct 2005
Format:Hardcover
This is a serious work that examines the types of small working boats around the British Isles and details their design and construction characteristics. Designs and tables of offsets and scantlings are also given. If you don't know what offset tables and scantlings are you may find the book rather too technical and turgid, but for keen boaties and boatwrights this book is a gem. Only 4 stars because I think the author got a bit carried away with taxonomy plus the index is rather hopeless. Otherwise I love it.
