Product Description

The purpose of this book is to help the reader to better understand American values, expectations, and behaviours in business activities and to help them to develop practical strategies for being successful in working with Americans.

From the Author

The issues, questions, situations, and problems that are presented and discussed in Working the American Way are those that have been posed by my international clients and colleagues over the years. They reflect the reality of working with Americans as they experience it, and the perception of American attitudes and behavior in business as they express it.
So in one sense, this book by an American has been written at least partly from a non-American point of view. At the same time, I've tried to make readers aware of how Americans view these same problems and situations, and why.
Your experience of working with Americans may be different in some respects from what I've described. That can't be helped -- After all, it's impossible to predict how any given individual (or indeed group) will act in a given situation. But what I have tried to do is to help prepare you for what you may encounter, and to help you understand some of the aspects of American behavior that you may have already had to deal with -- to reduce the surprise, frustration and potential misunderstanding that can occur, and offer useful suggestions for the inevitable questions, So what do I do? How should I respond?

I hope you find it useful.
