Product Description

CD Description

Released at the beginning of 2011 this was the studio album that reestablished the U.K. Subs at the forefront of the British Punk movement - Leading music magazines like Vive La Rock , Record Collector and Big Cheese all gave the album rave reviews and it also received a massive thumbs up from the underground media fanzine and radio scene - If it s modern tuneful Punk Rock with a serious message that you re after then this is the album for you!

Product Description

2011 album from punk mainstays & their first in 9 years! Features 12 new songs plus a co-write with Rancid's Lars Fredericksen and a cover of The Sonics "Strychnine".

Loved it! 31 Jan 2011
Format:Audio CD
Thoroughly enjoyed this on first listening. Although there are a few punky `bruisers` here ( eg `Creation`, `Hell is other People`, `Radio Unfriendly ), most of the tracks are mid tempo and rock influenced, though with really catchy riffs/chorus. This is not a hardcore punk album like, say `Riot` and `Quintessentials`, but neither is it definately not punk like, say, `Killing Time` or `Mad Cow Fever`. Instead it is something new for the Subs - a synthesis of punk and traditional rock, and it really works. For example, check out the amazing track `All Blurs into One`, which, like a previous reviewer said, is probably the most sophisticated track The Subs have ever done.
If you are a long time Subs fan who is not a punk rock dinosaur stuck in the past, you will enjoy this album, which is well produced and displays a high level of musical sophistication; the pity is that many others who would enjoy it will never get the chance to hear it. The only reasons I do not give it five stars are that I wish a couple of the tracks ended properly instead of fading out, and I think one of the fourteen ( Rock N Rol Whore ) does not merit being on the final cut. But these are quibbles! Good one lads - this is a first rate album, and much better than anyone has a right to expect after 30 odd years!!!

having been a life long subs fanatic its always a big event for me with a new studio album. I loved the last one Universal, and having seen the superb current line up many times i knew i shouldnt have worried.Jet does a great job as does the best subs drummer ever Jamie, add in Alvin and Sir Charles and all is good..........or is it??? .Well on first play I wasnt so sure.. ok i picked out four instant winners for me blood, tokyo rose, strychnine and an even better version of creation(my god does this one rock)but it took me a few full album plays to decide that this indeed is a modern day subs classic .as charlie said in a recent interview its more rock than previous releases but of course still punk!I would say its the most sophisticated subs cd in my collection, and great to see all the band members of this current long standing line up contribute towards the songwriting. so to summarise yes this is a rich sounding more rock slanted album with a varied and entertaining structure but as always it Definately still sounds like a subs album with their trademark sound

WEll done lads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, it's here. Charlie Harpers' UK Subs new studio CD - having now reached the letter "W" in their quest to do an album for every letter of the alphabet, this is a decent addition to the Subs' prolific output. Some of it is very derivative but hey, it's still fun & a good listen. 'Creation' and 'Hell is Other People' rock out whilst 'Children of the Flood' & 'All Blurs Into One' are more reflective numbers. There are some nice touches on this album, featuring good guitar flourishes & occasional mellow moments. One song , 'Eighteen Wheels', sounds like it could be Lemmy singing, such is the influence. 'Strychnine' is a Sonics cover, meanwhile 'Robot Age' & 'Rock'n'Roll Whore' are generic & more or less forgettable. All in all though it's a good effort & worth buying. One can't help but admire these true punk survivors.
