You will learn to install WordPress and customize the look-and-feel of your web site. You will develop the skills and confidence to manage all types of content, be it text or images, on your blog, and also understand how users interact with the blog. WordPress 2.7 is a perfect primer for people who have experience with the web, but not with WordPress. It covers everything from download, installation and usage, to more advanced topics such as creating your own WordPress themes and plugins. It covers all the basics quite thoroughly and is very easy to read and understand.

It may say it's for WordPress 2.7 in the title but 90% of the stuff in the book will be relevant for a good couple of years. It's not that relevant for more experienced WordPress developers, but for people new to WordPress and people who want to get into blogging it would be a great head start.

Good starting point 25 Dec 2009
By N. Nand
Format:Paperback
This is a pretty good basics guide to getting to know Wordpress and is defiantly useful for anyone starting out with it, although you can learn all of this online as Wordpress has a really good community if you prefer books this is a good way to go.

I was hoping it would be more technical about how to use Wordpress functions when making themes which it did to some degree but not as much as I would have liked, I think the Designing Wordpress Themes book by the same publisher would be better for what I was looking for although I've not read that yet.

Still a good book if you're looking for the basics of Wordpress and how to use, install and design basic themes. Good starting off point before learning more on the Internet as you need to.

Blogging made easy 20 Sep 2010
By Phil
Format:Paperback
This is an exceptionally well written book that is all inclusive coverage of the use of Word Press. Word Press has become the de facto contact management system for blogs on the internet and as such it is very usefull to have a book such as this by your side as you use it.

The layout is clear and easy to follow and the author knows the work well. The style of writting is such that you do not have to be a software developer to understand it and yet it goes in quite deep in parts, expcially the creation of templates, styles and widgets.

I recommend this to all levels both expert and beginner.
