I've been with Corel WordPerfect since the days of DOS. I liked the alternative it offered to Microsoft. However, I've always found it to be buggy. Most of these bugs are consistent (and therefore unforgiveable). This also means that they can be worked around. My biggest problems have been with Perfect Presentations - aside from the title being very inaccurate! Printing has always been inconsistent if you try more than one file after another - font sizes change. This has also been a consistent problem no matter what version of Windows I've used, no matter which of my PCs, and whatever printer I use. Corel evangelists will need to deal with the fact that this just leaves the software at fault. The work around is to reopen the software afresh each time - a minor annoyance.
Today, however, I've discovered a bug that's cost me half a day's work - a value far in excess of what I've paid for my upgrades year on year. The data charts aren't accurate if you update the data in an already used chart. I had created a template that merely needed fresh data each time. After working and printing all morning, I realised that the bar chart was not showing the values I'd put in. (ie. 13 shown higher than 23). The only way around this one is to redo the whole chart again - an unacceptable amount of exta work. I am using the very latest version of WordPerfect Office X5, under Windows 7. I couldn't review that because it's not on this site... strange. However, I've had every iteration of the Office Suite, and am genuinely surprised that it can still let it's loyal customers down so badly.
I will be reporting this to Corel, but I resent being an upaid product tester for sub-standard software that doesn't do what it should nor claims to on the tin. Purchase with eyes wide open.
