WordMania [Key Stage 3] is published by Topologika Software Ltd - one of the UK's leading suppliers of educational software to schools.
Students practise their skills on Spelling & Vocabulary, Punctuation & Grammar, Use of English, Comprehension and a 'Lucky Dip' mix - all at a level appropriate for Key Stage 3 with three difficulty levels.
There are five Literacy puzzles included: Spelling Pong (the classic Atari tennis game), Deciphering Codes (work out the message), Crosswords, Sliding Blocks and Grammar Nibbles.
Players answer topic and Key Stage based revision questions to win points, overcome maze obstacles and, in multi-player games, outwit other players. With enough points to exit a maze, they can then enter another maze or tackle a puzzle to win more points!
WordMania's multi-play features mean that students can play against their friends - via a network or via the Internet - where they will not just their own character in the mazes, but also other characters representing their friends! They can also see everyone's high scores and drop 'question bombs' to stay ahead of others!
