5.0 out of 5 stars A classic work that is still relevant today 14 April 2010

This book may seem obsolete, but until there is an updated version for Word 2003 it is as valid as ever. Nothing fundamental has changed in Word 2003, and most experience users, including myself, still regard Word 2003 as the best available word processor. I am talking about old timers only, and new users may well be happy to start with 2007, and good luck to them.

Unlike most computer program guides this book is very readable, with well defined chapters and lots of practical suggestions. It is a great way to learn how to get the most out of the hidden power of Word in a professional environment where the creation of complex documents with common themes is required.

4.0 out of 5 stars More Than A Rehash of The Previous Edition 2 Aug 2000
By Ruth Edlund - Published on Amazon.com

I bought the edition for Word 2000 with some trepidation, concerned that it would be only a rehash of the (excellent) edition for Word 97. However, I found that it has been updated very thoroughly to reflect the functional differences between Word 97 and Word 2000. It remains a very useful reference for sole practitioners who automate their own document generation. The reason it only rates 4 stars: I would have preferred a more robust description of the uses to which fields can be put in automating pleading (and other legal document) generating.

4.0 out of 5 stars Word 2000 for Law Firms 6 Jun 2000
By Debbie Kerner - Published on Amazon.com
I was nervous when we decided to switch our word processing system from WP51 to Word 2000. This book helped tremendously. It is specifically geared toward lawyers and the types of documents we generate. I found this book to be a useful resource during our transition.

4.0 out of 5 stars good book for lawyers and legal types 20 May 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This covers some pretty good material. She speaks frequently on this stuff and really knows the topics. This is more of a Word book - if you are like most lawyers transition from WP to Word, then I'd get "Word for Dummies" - if you are into hardcore document programming then I'd get "Learn Word 2000 VBA Document Automation"

Overall, if you are in the legal field - this book should be on your bookshelf
