Way back when poison ivy was still a creepin' with the Coasters, I wasn't a sleepin' while the Wolf Man howled. With that faithful little AM Realistic transistor radio turned low with a single ear phone, I drank the whine of the Wolf Man's show every night, and man did the Wolf sound great whenever he howled in my favorites of the day - like those from Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs. All I needed were fresh batteries to keep that little radio hot.
Anyway, after 50 years, I figured it was time to haul in some of the tunes I knew so well back in the day - to rein in and relive a few of those Wolf Man howls I still remember so well. I'll call this a starter edition of howling mad that always turned my mood to a happy one - even when my number came up for the draft.
Nope, the Pharaohs don't bring back the bad memories - only the best! Comedy in music as good as Jack Benny pinching pennies, or Bob Hope on a welcome USO tour. If Bob had the ski slope, the Pharaohs had the coffee grounds for a pick me up that could always drive me on. With 24 of their songs on this Wooly Bully; Little Red Riding Hood album, I knew I had the master smoke to tune my old ears back in. I wasn't disappointed.
There are only two songs on the Amazon "auto rip" MP3 download - what you need is the audio CD to really enjoy Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs. Every song is a treasure on the CD! The only thing better is having more of the Pharaohs albums. This album is actualy two of the original MGM LP album recordings - tracks 1-12 are the original Little Red Riding Hood LP recording of 1966, and tracks 13-24 are the original Wooly Bully LP of 1965. The album runs for a total of 57.31 minutes of enjoyment. Round this album out with The MGM Singles for the complete experience of the bands 1960's recordings.
