Being an avid Star Wars fan, I put this item on a wish list and a friend purchased it for me.
Honestly, I thought it would just be a funny book to have and didn't expect much from the recipes (I do cook a lot and the recipes didn't seem THAT interesting other than in the way they were presented and named). I was pleasantly surprised! Here are my observations:
- The book is hilarious. Yes it is! You will have fun going through it and it always gets smiles out of your guests.
- The quality is great because the pages are plastic coated (not too thick though) meaning it will not get messy when you cook and spill ingredients all over it. This is especially great if you cook with children.
- Although I didn't expect to use this, I actually did. Granted some of the 'recipes' are not much more than common sense (eg. ice cream sunday recipe which basically lists ice cream, nuts, chocolate sauce and whipped cream as ingredients) but a few are surprisingly good. My problem being an avid cook was that I was a bit of a snob and thought I had better recipes. This is actually true. However what makes this book so useful is that it's written for children and amateur cooks, meaning everything is very very simple and quick to make. Thus you end up with some interesting recipes for when you can't really be bothered to spend hours in the kitchen. The Star Wars twist gives it a fun element and makes even mundane recipes fit for (geekier admittedly) guests who can be impressed by the cookbook and the fun names of the dishes.
In conclusion, will I make everything? No. But I definitely do use it. And have tons of fun doing it. I would recommend it for any Star Wars fan, or parent of a kid who likes Star Wars and wants to get them in the kitchen. Totally gets its 5 stars.
