I recently bought this bike for light exercise and just for the love of cycling really which i used to partake in many moons ago! The build quality of this bike is fantastic with good quality components. It is a wee bit heavier than what i was expecting but its not a problem its still way lighter than a mountain bike.I only really have a few minor gripes. The gears and brakes need a touch of tweaking and the bike came with the front reflector broken (I noticed another reviewer had the same problem)but overall im very happy with this bike.Very good value at this price.

I have only recently started serious road cycling and decided to buy a new training bike, looking for something that is lightweight, quality and overall would meet my needs. I cant even begin to sing the praises of this bike. Not many people have heard of the brand woodworm so i was skeptical at first expecting it to be a one of product by a relatively unknown company in the cycling world. But how wrong could i be! Ordered the bike on Thursday morning and it had arrived by Friday afternoon (Express delivery but still only an extra £3). Delivered by yodel i have to admit they didnt let themselves down, it was prompt and delivered by a cheerful man, however one of the reflectors (front) had smashed, but that is something that costs about £1 to replace. Now onto the bike. The price is incredible for a bike like this, unlike other makes like Viking which seem to be constantly discounted and appear a bargain, this bike is considerably better quality! The bike comes with the frame, gears, breaks and rear wheel ready assembled so all you have to do is fit the handle bars, pedals, seat and front wheel, a task which may seem hard but actually is incredibly straight forward! The breaks need a small amount of tweaking and i have to admit the instructional manual is not at all great but nothing common sense cant fix! The bike is incredible smooth on the road and is a true stripped down racer, perfect for entry/intermediate. The brakes are responsive and the gears (Stick shifters on the main frame) are light and quick. With this bike it is easy to reach speeds of 20mph without breaking a sweat. I cannot praise it high enough and i hope this review will persuade you to buy this excellent bike at an amazing price from a quality seller.

I am not big into cycling as I prefer running but I am pleased with my new bike, nice and light and feels sturdy, don't like the pedals and I was afraid the frame would be on the small side but it is grand

I have just purchased this bike as I need to get fit and am doing a 50 mile charity bike ride in one month! The bike was delivered promptly by Yodel the day after I ordered it. Excellent service considering it cost only £3.00 postage. The bike itself was expertly packaged with lots of bubble wrap and cardboard and plastic stoppers all placed in the right areas so the bike arrived in mint condition. The pedals, seat and handlebars had to be put into position but this only took 10 minutes and this was without using the manual. Only one other adjustment was needed to tighten the front forks after correct alignment was required. I lightly oiled the chain as it appeared quite dry.
Then off to the garage to pump up the tyres. After reading other reviews, I decided to try 75 PSI which seemed adequate. After this I hit the road for a swift 15 mile ride. The brakes were fine but the gears do need a little tweaking as they were a little noisy and 'clicky'.
Overall I was delighted with my first outing on this bike. It is relatively light and easy to ride and certainly looks good on the road. For the price I would thoroughly recommend this bike to anyone who wishes to 'get out on the road'.

ENJOY.............

At the age of 57 I got back into riding again two years ago as a hobby to keep fit and help me maintain my weight loss of three stones. As I have been increasing my daily distance from six miles to ten and now fifteen I decided it was time to add a road bike to my two mountain bikes. After looking around various local bike shops I decided I didn't really want to invest in a premium bike so I started looking on the internet and found the Woodworm on the Amazon website. After reading the various reviews I decided to buy it. It arrived in a couple of days and was easy to assemble by fitting the handlebars and front wheel and blowing up the tyres. The general build quality is good although the gears did need some adjustment to get them working properly. The only negatives are is that I don't find the brakes as sharp as other bikes I own and the fact that the front and rear light lenses together with one of the wheel reflectors were all found to be broken when I unpacked it.

Bought the bike on a Sunday, arrived early on the Tuesday in the biggest box of all time. It was wrapped and protected well, with plastic caps on the wheel 'hubs' and A LOT of bubble wrap and cardboard. There were a couple of marks on the frame that still haven't rubbed off, but I'm not too fussed. Getting it assembled was frustrating, but relatively simple, even if the instruction booklet was written by an inferior life form. The frustrating bit was loosening the nut below the handlebars to raise them - had to find an adjustable (though in hindsight, the hole for the allen key at the top of the handlebars could probably have saved me 20 mins of searching). The whole assembly was just common sense, and only took around 30 mins (minus the searching for adjustable) - the allen key and other tool were supplied and did the job well. After it was completed, I pumped the tyres up to around 50psi - I could have put more in, and probably should, but they seemed quite firm, and I'd read reviews before about the inner tubes bursting under too much pressure. DO NOT pump them up to 100psi as the sidewall of the tyre says. They'll just destroy themselves. Also, I'd highly recommend squirting some chain lube on the chain and sprocket, as they were dry as a bone. My first ride out ended in disaster as the handlebars moved completely to the left, but it wasn't the fault of the bike. In my haste I hadn't tightened them enough. Also, the gears seemed clunky and ratios were even worse. Seemed to go along fine in all gears in second ratio, but didn't have any luck with 1st or 3rd ratios. HOWEVER, after some tinkering (with the gear assembly, there are two small screws (on top), with the bike upside down, the one closest to you needs undoing slightly, just so the chain can slide across without hitting against the guard.Read more ›
