This is a good bread knife in the old fashioned sense. Good for cutting very fresh (straight out of the oven) loaves because of its deep scallops. Its very sharp and maintains its edge well. You must, however, be careful. It does not have as thick a blade as I would have liked (hence the 4 star rating) and, because of that, it does have a tendency to bend and "run off", hence the warning about watching your fingers. two sticking plasters later and I've got used to it and it does a good job.
