very poor quality 25 Oct 2010

I'd echo a former reviewer who said "this tray is cheaply-made and poorly put together - I would not recommend it for long lasting use". I wanted it to perch a laptop on, while lying up in bed after an operation, to keep the laptop vents clear and prevent overheating. Within the first week the screws securing the legs came loose, causing them to wobble, then one of the stabilising struts on one side fell out, I can only assume it was supposed to be glued in, but they forgot to add the glue, or used poor quality materials. Finally, during week 2, one of the corner angles of the tray has started to come apart. Again, poor gluing, design, materials. The whole tray seems to be falling apart. I only hope it hangs on for long enough for me to order a more robust one that will last, which I should have done in the first place, but was seduced by the cheaper price of this one. Unless you intend to treat it with kid gloves, I'd avoid this tray altogether. It's lightweight rubbish.

A light table perfect for breakfast in bed. Main constuction is robust, wellmade and sturdy. I really like the white top which is really easy to clean. It does pretty much everything the ad says.

Only downsides are that the nuts/bolts on the legs lossen very quickly so you will need a philips screwdriver to tighten them up otherwise like me you will lose them within a week, or the unit will fall to one side. Also the legs are a little short as I would like more generous clearance between the table base and my legs.

I am going to replace with with those nuts that don't lossen to fix the problem and also fit slightly longer legs (1-2") at the same time.

I use mainly with a latop (not the official use for this product) , as such the plywood base doesn't block all the heat to your legs, but at least the laptops vents are clear (longer legs will reduce this heat problem). In general I am very happy with this product given the extreamely low price.

I bought this tray to use my laptop in the bed.
Week one - lost 2 screws out of 4.
Week two - local B&Q happily provided screws insted of the lost one (actually two), but minimum 10 pcs in the pack...
Week three - lost tha last 2 original screws, but I have enough spare ones, but I don't know where, so I bought 10 again...
Week four - the cross holder not holding anything. Back to the B&Q buy some glue for wood. Maintenance done and found the spare screws, so I could use them again, and I had to...
Week five - Glue the other side as well, bought thread locker glue as well, to stop loseing the screws.
Since week six (now,we are somewhere week 40) have no problem at all...

If you buy this item, you need some glue for wood and a few drop of thread locker (Loctite 542 or someting similar).

Flimsy but OK
Tray isn't very sturdy, so feels like your breakfast could end up on the bed. The legs don't lock so there is movement, sometimes leading to collapse, of the tray. Read more

Folding Portable Bed Tray
We bought this as a laptop table. It is sturdy, big enough for the purpose, not too heavy. Came ready assembled so just unfold and use!
