Front cover gives the impression that the book will contain a few plans for wooden geared clocks, it doesn't, it has one which is the one on the cover, the other plans are simple "cut to shape" scrollwork with standard quartz type inserts or mechanisms.

This book is well written and laid out, with sections to suit all experience levels of scroll saw users. However, be warned, if you're buying this book thinking it contains plans for 31 wooden geared clocks similar to the one pictured on the front cover - it doesn't. There is only one set of plans for a wooden clock - the same one shown on the cover - in the 'advanced' section and they are difficult to follow because the construction details are surprisingly brief. The remaining 30 plans are purely different scroll sawed designs that have modern quartz battery powered inserts mounted into them. A little disappointing for me.

The front cover suggested that the book would be about clocks built using gears. In reality, there is only one (BRILLIANT) example. the rest are examples of clocks using quartz movements.
Still, a useful read and worth the buy just for the one set of plans for the gear wheel clock.

The title of this book suggest that it is offering 31 plans for wooden clocks ie clocks with a wooden mechanism as pictured on the cover of the book, but what it actually gives you... Read more
