This book covers a much more information than simply carving. How to sharpen tools, properties and good points/bad points of different woods, diagrams of just about every carving tool, especially gouges and the different shapes and profiles. How to make a foot operated scroll saw, vices, cramps, types of carving, like chip carving, lettering, and the 'usual' carving. Lots of pictures and illustrations. All in all a pleasant read and a gentle pace. This man knows his stuff! It's just like listening to a craftsman speaking to you.
