Format:Audio CD
Some people may have not heard of Chris Thompson, but they will have undoubtedly been touched by his work in the past. he was the vocalist on such Manfred Mann Earthband mega hits as 'Blinded By The Light' and 'Davey's On the Road Again'. He has recorded much wonderful material in his own write, as well as writing material made famous by others, notably, the John Farnham hit, 'You're the Voice'. Now, comes this new album, 'Won't Lie Down', a really fine piece of mature, melodic rock music. In collaboration with guitar whizz Mike Slamer, Chris Thompson has provided a collection of songs which both have the feel of originality, and of being instant classics, from the first play.
The very first track, 'Wasting Time' has a pulsating guitar figure. This is high energy stuff, but high energy with a brain. More of the same follows. Song after song that show craftmanship above and beyond the call of duty! If this review sounds sychophantic, well I am sorry, but it upsets me that music of this class and quality is not mpore to the fore these days. Try this album. I do not think you will regret it!

Yet ANOTHER Great Thompson Triumph!

Chris Thompson, best known here in the U.S. for his body of work with Manfred Mann's Earth Band, is at least as well known elsewhere for his impressive body of work as a solo artist. His work encompasses everything from movie soundtracks("The Champ")to commercials. What makes him stand out from so many of his contemporaries is two unique qualities:1. His VOICE(which if anything has IMPROVED with age) and 2. His ability to grow/adapt artistically, allowing his music to remain fresh and vital, while continuing to remain steadfast in his refusal to compromise his HIGH personal standards of excellence. The result is an album that is commercially accessible yet adventurous, filled with songs that run a wide range of emotions. Chris possesses a MARVEL of a voice:it simply HAS to be heard to be believed! He has one of THE widest vocal ranges in Rock/Pop music, and puts it to SPLENDID use on this album! Altogether, there is NOT a weak effort to be found on this album, and his delivery (as usual) is earnest and engaging, highlighted by his trademark SOARING vocal range. WORTH checking out!

This cd has something for everyone. Not only are his vocals amazing, his music encompasses humor, a little rap, some insight, sensitivity, and good, old fashioned rock and roll. Whether you're a longtime fan or new, you will find his music empowering and uplifting. He can do it all and do it like no one else. His voice has taken on more character and expression since his days with Manfred Mann's Earth Band. This CD is well worth the money. Go ahead and order with no worries....if nothing else, you'll be blown away by the power in his voice.

Chris Thompson continues with his powerful voice. This album shows his talent and his ability to change with the times. Great CD for Chris Thompson fans (the voice of Manfred Mann's Earth Band).
