The anticipation for 'Everyone is here' is really picking up speed and this DVD justifies the expectation level. It's good to see Parlophone giving the Finn brothers the attention they deserve and releasing a classy DVD single such as this. From the very case itself to the sheer slickness of its contents it exudes a sense of real quality.
The tracks themselves are also very good, as one would expect. The title track 'Won't give in' has all the qualities of a single - a powerful opening riff, melodic verses and memorable chorus and will be the centrepiece of the new album for most. 'Way back down' is just that little bit rockier and probably makes even better use of its instrumentation than 'Won't give in' - the chorus is notoriously catchy, classic Finn. 'Sunset Swim' starts deceptively slow but builds up to quite a powerful chorus; it's also quite a contrast to 'Won't give in', highlighting the brothers versatility.
The only video on the DVD accompanies an acoustic version of 'won't give in' which I feel is better than the album version as it is performed as it was written - with Tim on piano and Neil on guitar and also ditches the drums that maybe cluttered up the original. The video itself switches between Tim and Neil in a studio performing the track and a montage of the two wandering about, its almost as if the director can't decide whether the simply show them playing live or make a music video, still its nice to see them as well as listen.
This is a worthy addition to any Finn-atic's collection; and the fact that the excellent 'Way back down' and 'Sunset swim' were omitted from the album bodes well for what remains. The future looks bright for New Zealand's finest.
