Product Description

Yes are one of British Progressive Rock's greatest and most enduring bands. This top value double CD collection is the ideal Yes primer, taking a panoramic sweep from their early days in the late 1960s, through such classics as the rapturous And You And I and on into the late seventies and early eighties, when the band scored global hit singles with classics such as Wonderous Stories, Going For The One and Owner of A Lonely Heart. This collection also shows the band at their most innovative and inventive best, with epics such as Siberian Khatruand Close To The Edge featured in their entirety. The new 2014 edition features band new official art work from Roger Dean.

OK, so there have been numerous "best of" Yes compilations over the years, so there is probably not much need for another! Saying that, at £5 it is exceptionally good value and is a great starter point for people getting interested in Yes. I would say it is a pretty good selection of songs, most of which are on the 35th anniversary compilation. But with a band that has some songs lasting over 20 minutes it is going to be a tough challenge to get everything on a double cd set. I would rather it was in chronological order too, this way you hear the development of the band over the years. So whilst we didn't really need another Yes compilations, you cannot argue with its value.

This inexpensive compilation is not to be confused with the identically named compilation that came out in 2011. The listing is almost the same as well and presented in the same order but reduced from 25 to 20 tracks. As both the CDs in this offering are near the physical maximum capacity the explanation is that the tracks here are in their entirety and have not been shortened. While there is nothing new for existing Yes fans, it is a good into for newcomers to prog or for those who would like a snapshot of what made the band great. All the tracks are classics with no fillers. Thoroughly recommended.
