If you are not a writer, you may find it odd when a writer says you can have too many words. Believe me, you can. I am a poet who derives lots on inspiration from the visual, and it helps a lot if there aren't a lot of words telling you what to think about it. This book fits the bill.
I am not familiar with any of the artists in this book so, sans texte (apart from an intriguing preface and the most basic of acknowledgements), I can run free with these images and do what I want with them, creatively-speaking. I like most of them very much. Some images off the top of my head : flowers (and plants in general), butterflies, birds, skies, luxurious fabrics such as crumpled silk and crushed velvet. There are lovers, clowns, pierrots, travellers, and beauty, and a sense of unease, a sense of menace, and transience. All of which is very beguiling.
