Having a copy of the original Wonder Wheels, I decided to buy this re-print and compare them. I was not disappointed, the quality of the book is absolutely brilliant. The cloth-covered hardback is now red instead of yellow and there's a nice photo of Eileen and Ken on the back and the byline has been dropped from the jacket. Anyone who buys this book will be delighted and Mercian Manuals have done everyone interested in cycling a real service. The photos are great and the book makes fantastic reading. No one could read this book without being amazed at the power and grace this lady showed in her record-breaking prime.

I first read and enjoyed this as a library book in the mid fifties at a time when I was first getting into cycling. It is a book for those into nostalgia ,of reading about a time when the cycling world was much more innocent, there was an ignorance of drug taking, and a sport not driven by commercial presssures.Eileen loved cycling from the moment she rode her first 'tank', discovered she had ability for racing, then encouraged by her family eventually developed into a professional rider for Hercules. It is not a book for those interested in gear ratios, equipment used , training regimes or skullduggery. It is an account of someone who loved cycling at a time when the world was more naive, but still an enjoyable read.

I purchased this book for my fiance as a Christmas gift. She really enjoyed the book and was very inspired by it.

Eileen is a very inspirational rider and deserves to have her book read.

A great read, harking back to a simpler time - perhaps cycling's "golden age". I was left wondering what happened next? It's a pity that in this reprint the opportunity wasn't taken to add a few lines to tell the reader how the story ended.
