I like the way this book is put together. The different perspectives make it an enjoyable and accessible read. If you are interested in the social history of women in Ireland I would definitely start with this book. It gives you an insight - although in some cases a brief one - into the lives of different classes of women and different aspects of their lives. I only wish there was more detailed information in certain areas of the book but I know from experience that the primary sources don't often survive and without them only guesses can be made - not many people want to put themselves forward for criticism on their suppositions based on modern attitudes towards historical fact. Definitely worth the read though.
