Product Description

Karlan Rixx is the epitome of the playboy rocker. Sexy and gorgeous, with the feral edge of a werewolf. And Trent Savage has been in love with him for years. The trouble is, K has a new woman in his bed every night, so he’s straight as they come. Unable to bear it anymore, Sav makes plans to leave the band, even though it will break his heart in the process. But anything's better than seeing the man he loves—his mate—and not being able to touch. Ever.

K loves being a Lyric Hound. The only time he truly feels alive is on stage, a guitar in his hand and the beat of Sav's drums flowing through his veins. He may be a womanizer, but it's the other wolf who makes his heart pound and his body ache. But before K can admit his feelings, Sav leaves the band, ripping his world apart.

Enter Madame Eve. Can she find K's lost mate?

Mina Carter was born and raised in Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England). After a slew of careers ranging from logistics to land-surveying she can now be found in the wilds of Leicestershire with her husband and young daughter...the true boss of the family.

Suffering the curse of eternal curiosity Mina never tires of learning new skills which has led to Aromatherapy, Corsetry, Chain-maille making, Welding, Canoeing, Shooting, and pole-dancing to name but a few. A veteran Star Trek RPGer, she's run both games and groups of games but now finds her home in Alpha Fleet, one of the internet's oldest Star Trek simm groups.

She juggles being a mum, writing full time and tossing another ball in the air with her cover artwork. For Mina, writing time is the wee hours of the morning before anyone wakes up and starts making demands, or any spare minute that can be begged, bought or conned.

Her first stories were penned at age 11, when she used a stationery set meant for Christmas thank you letters to write stories instead. More recently, she wrote for her own amusement and to save on outrageous monthly book bills. Now she's totally addicted and needs her daily writing fix or heads roll!

This is a short, punchy tale in which a date set up by Madame Eve, in collusion with K, allows him to go after Sav, the man he has just come to realise he loves, who couldn't take any more of his mate being a manwh***, and so who abandonned him and the band they belonged to.

It's not at all sweetness and light, but it is a well-written tale that gets to the point, that's plausible, that has feelings and that ends in the start of a HEA. It was also nice to see characters from previous tales in the series, and that this book can be read as a standalone.

It's a 5* Keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent addition to the 1NS series 20 Jan 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a slightly different style of book compared to others of this series. It's a male/male romance. And as opposed to leaping into hardcore man on man sex scenes, there is a lot of focus on the emotions. Don't get me wrong, there were romance scenes involving sex acts and they were written perfectly. But the emotions portrayed in this one kept me hooked til the end and I fell in love with the two lovers in this book.

Well written, as normal. No silly errors tripping me up. Good pace. Showed back story. Brought past characters into this story and showed more character development again.

Loved it.

5/5

Would definitely suggest to friends.

Trent Savage, Sav, is the drummer in Lyric Hound, a very popular band, consisting of Werewolf musicians. For as long as he can remember he's been attracted to Karlan Rixx, the band's guitarist. What's more, for years he has known that Karlan is his preordained mate. Karlan however is as straight as they come and, as far as Sav can tell, completely unaware of or ignoring Sav's feelings as well as the bond between them.

After years of trying to deny his feelings just to hold on to Karlan's friendship, Sav can't take it anymore and leaves the band as well as the only life and family he's ever known.

Karlan may be a womanizer, in his heart there is only one person he's interested in. When Sav disappears Karlan feels lost. The band isn't the same with Sav to drive the beat and Karlan's life is incomplete without the man behind him on stage, next to him in life.

When he discovers that Sav has contacted Madame Eve to organize a one night stand, Karlan does what he can to be Sav's date. There was a reason Karlan didn't know he and Sav were mated. With Karlan's problem solved both man are in for a few surprises when they meet again. But will it be enough for them to embrace their destiny?

Allow me to start with a few qualifiers. I've never read a One Night Stand or Lyric Hound story before. I don't read a lot of supernatural stories, erotic or otherwise and, I very often find myself having issues with novellas. For all intents and purposes requesting this book for review seemed to be an exercise in setting myself up for failure.

Imagine how happily surprised I was to discover that being new to the One Night Stand series and Lyric Hound stories didn't make a difference.

5.0 out of 5 stars No words...Just wow 7 Jan 2014
By Romance Reader - Published on Amazon.com

If there were was Mina Carter book that made me beg her to please make it longer this was it. Not only did I beg her throughout the entire book to stop torturing me (and them), but I begged her to give me more of K and Sav. You see, this is a first for Mina. A M/M and she knocked it out of the park. This might be a short, but the emotion in these pages is deep, heartfelt and so painful at times I wanted to go into the book and create my own K and Sav sandwich (with me as the filling of course). K and Sav's story is one we are too familiar with. Unrequited love. Or maybe not. You see what is obvious to one person may not be to the next. When I say I don't have words, I really don't. This short, much like other great romances of hundreds of pages kept me focused, involved, and wishing upon each sentence that things would work for the two sexy men. If you love a story that is more about feelings than sex, more about what love lies deep in a person's heart and what they are willing to give up to see the person they care about happy, then you not just enjoy this story, you will devour it.
I am hoping against hope that Mina does make me that K and Sav sandwich and finally puts me out of my misery. Until then, I will continue re-reading this because it is one of her most emotionally charged romances.
It won't disappoint you. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yummy Goodness 15 Jan 2014

This book is simply yummy goodness. I am a huge fan of the Lyric Hounds and was super excited to see book three was released. Not only do we get to see some old favorites and how they are doing , but we get to learn more about both Karlan and Sav. Madam Eve works her magic once again as she helps connect two true mates who, due to an event from their past, some stubbornness, and a bit of fear were not yet at their HEA. I can not wait to see what Mina has in store for the Lyric Hounds in the future. While this can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading them all because they are all yummy goodness.

Trent Savage, Sav, is the drummer in Lyric Hound, a very popular band, consisting of Werewolf musicians. For as long as he can remember he’s been attracted to Karlan Rixx, the band’s guitarist. What’s more, for years he has known that Karlan is his preordained mate. Karlan however is as straight as they come and, as far as Sav can tell, completely unaware of or ignoring Sav’s feelings as well as the bond between them.

After years of trying to deny his feelings just to hold on to Karlan’s friendship, Sav can’t take it anymore and leaves the band as well as the only life and family he’s ever known.

Karlan may be a womanizer, in his heart there is only one person he’s interested in. When Sav disappears Karlan feels lost. The band isn’t the same with Sav to drive the beat and Karlan’s life is incomplete without the man behind him on stage, next to him in life.

When he discovers that Sav has contacted Madame Eve to organize a one night stand, Karlan does what he can to be Sav’s date. There was a reason Karlan didn’t know he and Sav were mated. With Karlan’s problem solved both man are in for a few surprises when they meet again. But will it be enough for them to embrace their destiny?

Allow me to start with a few qualifiers. I’ve never read a One Night Stand or Lyric Hound story before. I don’t read a lot of supernatural stories, erotic or otherwise and, I very often find myself having issues with novellas. For all intents and purposes requesting this book for review seemed to be an exercise in setting myself up for failure.

Imagine how happily surprised I was to discover that being new to the One Night Stand series and Lyric Hound stories didn’t make a difference. I fell into and was captured by this story from the very first word and stayed hooked until I’d finished the last one. What’s not too like? We’re meeting Sav, a sexy and dominant werewolf rock star who, despite his rough exterior is breaking up inside because his mate appears to be rejecting him. And, not only do we get to enjoy this hunk, we’re also treated to Karlan, and equally hot werewolf. The reader is being spoiled.

Talking about werewolves; I’ve obviously been missing something while ignoring supernatural (erotic) stories. If this story sets the standard, this is a discrepancy I’ll be fixing in the not too distant future, very likely starting with the other Lyric Hound stories.

As far as the fact that this is a novella rather than a full novel is concerned all I can say is that I was very impressed. This was as complete a story as any reader can wish for. The characters are well described and fully fleshed, there’s enough back story to give the reader not only everything they need to know but also a real connection to the character’s feelings and actions. This story may only have counted 35 pages, it provided everything a good story needs: a beginning that puts the reader straight into the story, a middle that provided all the explanations needed without slowing the story down and a beautiful and very satisfying ending.

And did I mention this story is hot? Well, it is. But then, that’s exactly what you would expect when you pick up a story about two Alpha werewolves giving in to their feelings for each other after years of having to deny then.

This in short was about an hour’s worth of pure reading delight, leaving me with yet another author I have to add to my must-read list.

4.0 out of 5 stars A GraveTells review: Great short male/male werewolf romance! A quick and memorable read! 3 Mar 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I saw this story featured on a 1 Night Stand newsletter and couldn't resist the rock star - werewolf - male/male triple threat. Sex, Wolves, and Rock n Roll is a standout quick read, packing a lot of history and emotion into a short, memorable story. If you're a fan of rocker romances with hot preternatural heroes and enjoy a little guy-on-guy action, definitely pick this one up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great 1 Night Stand novella 7 Jan 2014
By J. Sapa - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Sex, Wolves, and Rock 'n Roll is her third book about the members of the rock band Lyric Hounds. Each book can be read as a stand alone book but I do highly recommend reading the other two books...they are also great novellas.

In Sex, Wolves, and Rock 'n Roll, Sav the drummer decides to leave the band because of his unrequited love for guitar player K. Both are wolf shifters so they have the ability to sniff out their mate. Not going to spoil the story but there is an interesting twist on why K has ignored the mate bond, loved that twist. I absolutely loved this novella, actually got a little teary eyed in several scenes...which to me is a sign of an awesome book. Highly recommend!!!
