Format: Paperback
The story running through issues #11-15 of Wolverine Max is collected as Wolverine Max Volume 3. This appears to be the climax of this Wolverine Max series, as there is no Wolverine after the finale… though he could be calling himself something else now. There is even a genuine Wolverine Max in the final storyline! This is an even more blood-splattered adventure than the previous volumes, and nowhere near as funny. The first three-part story sees Logan hiding out as a cage fighter, but is hypnotised by a neighbour who is a former stage hypnotist and turned into a private killing machine. Trouble is, she doesn’t know Logan is the Wolverine… The second story sees Logan in Vegas, where he meets with his crime boss employer from his forgotten days. It turns out that this chap – the Max of the series title, believe it or not – was the man who paid for Logan to have the claws installed, and now he wants his old employee back. However, Logan has had enough of all the killing and decides on a drastic solution, one which I am surprised that no X-Men villains have thought of before…

If you enjoyed the previous volumes of this ‘parallel world’ mini-series, then you should enjoy this one just as much. If you haven’t read the previous volumes, then don’t start here. Note that there is a cross-reference to Punisher Max thrown in, just to remind us of the links between this and the recent Fury Max and Punisher Max series.
