Now priced at less than £5 in some instances on Amazon, this book is an absolute steal and represents an excellent investment for anyone interested in public transport history, as well as folk who recall Wolverhampton and the West Midlands in days gone by. Although Birmingham was the pioneer of trolleybuses in the West Midlands (the city carried out the very first tram to trolleybus conversion in the U.K.), their system never really got beyond the experimental stage (albeit a long-lived experiment), but nearby Wolverhampton took up the baton and embraced trolleybus operation with much greater enthusiasm. From the mid 1920s onwards a large and efficient system was built up which was to serve the area for over forty years. Expansion and modernisation continued right through to the late 1950s, but then came the national collapse of interest in trolleybuses - Wolverhampton joined most other U.K. operators in dispensing with their system with almost indecent haste, the system finally closing in 1967.
Primarily a photographic record, excellent pictures give the reader views of all aspects of Wolverhampton trolleybuses throughout their history, all accompanied by informative captions. However, it isn't all just pictures; there are several very readable chapters about how the system grew, thrived and then declined, along with clear route maps and a very detailed fleet list. Really, everything you need to know and with a book of better quality and containing more information than some other publications of three or four times the price, this really is a bargain.

Love it. Just as I remember the trolleybus service from when I was a boy. Clear photos and interesting historical features, including a sketch map of all routes.
