4.0 out of 5 stars A great finish!, 3 May 2008
By J. Archer "Blusky20" (UK) - See all my reviews

I read the Space Wolf tale in order and this book finishes up in great style, making it the best in my view. It builds upon the previous books and introduces a few new faces alongside the favourites. The action is well written and the pace spot on. It's not hard to figure out what happens in the end, but the way it pans out makes a fasinating and enthralling read.

The books are not Ragnars tale of how he becomes the youngest Wolf Lord, but the book hints at how it happens. None the less it's a great saga in all, and the last few chapters hold great moments for any 40k space wolf fan, I half expected Leman Russ himself to put in a showing at one point.

It would get the full five stars, but a few loose ends are left untied and the fate of some characters seemingly unexplained. I'd also love to know the Ranek/Ulrik dilema and what happend to Njal Stormcaller!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, But.., 8 Sep 2008

Whilst the story was fun and it gave us the finale to what has been a terrific series certain aspects were left wanting the end of the book could have done with an extra chapter just too wrap things up properly rather then a 1 sentance expalination for things/people that had been rather improtant in the series. Also not sure if anyone else has noticed but it became such a bugbare of mine as the book went on i was litterly shouting in frustration, The auther for the book really needs to learn repertition Ragnar constantly being refered to as The young space wolf over and over again it just read somthing from a childs novel. I counted on a 2 page spread 8 times he said the young space wolf did this or the young space wolf did that. All in all not a\ bad book I do hope they decide to continue the tales of Ragnar all the way to wolf lord and then they could actuly finish the tales of some of the Charecters IE Sven and his other pack mates who were not mentioned. Just hope if they do continue the story they allow a better auther to pen the series such as abnett or bring back King

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun as usual!, 27 Jun 2008
By PureSymmetry (london) - See all my reviews

I loved the whole Ragnar series! This book is full of action and humour, Ragnars constant soul searching and the banter between torin and hagaar..
This is the second book written by the dynamic duo who pen as lee lightner, and is much better written then the first. Buy with confidence!
