In A Wolf at the Door!
, Little Bear was reading a book when a knock came on his door, and when he answered it, he found Little Billy Goat Gruff racing to hide from a wolf. He ran inside, and Little Bear started to read to him. Exactly the same thing happened again, this time in came the Squealer Boys, (the Three Little Pigs) who also were trying to escape from a wolf. There were several more knocks on the door, and in came Little Bo Peep and her sheep, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and Goldilocks, all trying to escape the wolf. Then there was another knock. Who could it be? This is a lovely story, full of repetition and well-known and loved characters, and there are lots of opportunities for discussion and prediction. The words are simple and easy to understand and are accompanied by excellent illustrations, making the book suitable for children aged three and above. --Susan Naylor
