Great tactical game once you get the hang of it. Definitely try the free version as there's plenty of game time there to give u a taste. Works great on my kindle fire. The interface is really easy. Hours of entertainment for any Magic fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Too big for Kindle 24 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase
Magic 2014 runs well and looks fantastic on the Kindle Fire HD platform, but it has a voracious appetite for storage and I would recommend a little house keeping before downloading. Game play comes with a steep learning curve for a newbie like myself and my progress through the tutorial was more down to luck than skill, but I emerged at the other side with a fresh deck and a better understanding of the mechanics, so I suppose I did learn something after all.
Once I'd completed the tutorial I decided to unlock the full game which (at time of writing) at 7 was excellent value when you consider the quality of the artwork and it's complexity; an additional 0.63 partially unlocked my initial deck and greatly improved my chances with the later combatants, however I did pay the extra 0.63 for the shiny enhancement but that had no obvious effect on the deck other than looking well . . . shiny.
Even though I had, or thought I had unlocked the deck, there remained 10 cards grayed out that could only be accessed by entering a promotional code. I had no trouble finding the codes on various gaming sites but they failed to unlock the cards and prompted the warning that my code was invalid, I later found out that there are a host of problems with these codes on all platforms so it's just not a snag with the Kindle, but of course I could have been doing something wrong.
Just when I was getting hang of the game the campaign was over, there is an extension upgrade for 3.60, new decks, new campaigns but I suspect that will push the Kindle's storage capacity to breaking point and I have no desire to make room by dumping my unread eBooks back into cloud storage. In all a good game but just too big for the average tablet, might consider re-playing it through Steam.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gathering! 15 Aug 2013

It's been years since I've played the actual Magic:The Gathering card game but very quickly, it all came back to me. Beatifully rendered graphics, nice little cut scenes too.

I've only tried the first few levels so far; the AI isn't that easy to beat so it's a good challenge.

If I get past these free levels, I may well purchase the full product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magic at its best 28 Jun 2013

Just downloaded full version of Magic 2014, it´s identical to XBLA version. Plays really well on tablet, with no problems (not yet anyway). Only down side is no WI-FI multiplayer. A must for all magic enthusiasts, and worth a try for the curious.

I've always had a admiration for magic the gathering even had the ps3 version of the 2013 series but I must admit that the new sealed play single player style has recaptured my passion for the game. Would definitely recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is how to release an app... 17 July 2013
By Andrew
Well constructed, fantastic graphics, plays like a dream and with masses of free trial content - I had no hesitation in paying for the full version by the time they got around to asking, and it's gone down as one of my all-time favourites!
