Synopsis

Wizards have always had a magical place in the world of fiction. Harry Potter may be the most popular boy wizard but he was not the first by a long spell. A spellbinding collection of the most magical wizard tales of the twentieth century, including the good, the bad and the comical. The stories are written by leading children's authors, including Philip Pullman, Roald Dahl, Jacqueline Wilson and Diana Wynne Jones, and many more. There is a rare story by a writer J.K Rowling has acknowledged as a major influence, Edith Nesbit.

A collection Haining hjas put together for kids I discovered after getting it, and the introduction of pretty much every story compares it to Harry Potter in some way, which is going to really, really, really annoy you quite likely.

It may work as an introduction to the subject for those it is aimed it though, possibly, although quite likely even they might find it speaking down to them.
