Book Description

31 Mar 2003
More than 20 stories -- half of them original to this volume and the other half recent and classic gems specifically chosen for the timelessness of their satirical bite. Includes celebrate award-winners like Robert Silverberg, Allen Steele, Cory Doctorow, Jeffrey Ford, and Paul Di Filippo; a few brand-new writers making their debut; and acclaimed state-of-the art satirists such as Bradley Denton, Don Webb and others. The stories range in style from dark comedy to laugh-out-loud farce, from surrealistic fancy to cautionary satire.

4.0 out of 5 stars W-w-witpunk 6 Dec 2003

I recently read this book after my good friend Nikki showed it to me. The first story she had me read was entitled Timmy and Tommy, and it was so twisted, yet normal, I loved it. I'd tell you more about the story, but I can't without ruining it for you. Witpunk is a collection of short stories with a sci-fi edge to them. Not all of them were quite "sci-fi" but they were still wonderfully written and really intrigued the reader. I reccommend this book for anyone who loves...anything. It's that good. Sure...not all the stories are the greatest, but some of them are worth finding.

If you're already a fan of Silverberg, Morrow, Cadigan, Di Filippo, Vukcevich etc. etc., you won't be disapointed. Most of the stories in this collection are gems, and I look forward more original anthologies from 4W8W in the future.

2.0 out of 5 stars Witless 14 Mar 2005
By Bruce Boeck - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I had high hopes for this book, which were not realized. The stories, while occasionally amusing, are generally not written terribly well; the plots are transparent, the characters all sterotypes. Some of the entries are page and a half long sentances. I feel pretty ripped off that I paid full price for this.
