This film tell the amazing story of Steve Prefontaine's short but veryfruitful life!
This is a man that left his mark on the world oflong-distance running in just a very short athletic career.
He is an inspiration to every athlete (no matter what event) and hasproved that pure guts, determination, and most importantly a having adream to realise, can get you to the very top of your event.
Along with his coach, the lengendary Bill Bowerman, at the Univerisity ofOregon, he mesmerized fans with his gutsy front running. He didn't believein holding back and wanted a race to be run honestly and without anyinhibition. He was the best they'd ever seen and couldn't be beaten at anydistance over a mile in the states. At only 21, he came fourth in the5000m at Munich 1972. He maintained his amateur status so he could have achance of winning gold in Montreal 1976. He would almost certainly havewon, had he not been tragically killed in a car crash, on May 30, 1975, onhis way home from a post-race party.
Almost 30 years on from his deathhe continues to inspire new generations of athletes (myself included!).His apeptite for running and winning is infectious and this film will makeyou want to get out there and give it your best in whatever event youdo!
All runners should have this film and his biography, 'PRE: The Story ofAmerica's Greatest Running Legend, Steve Prefontaine'
by Tom Jordan. Get them - they WILL inspire you!
