I was slightly sceptical about trying a new series from a fab author, as with most things the second time round is never as successful as the first. But i have to say i genuinely enjoyed this book, in fact i think i prefer it to the georgia nicolson series! Although I think this one is possibly aimed at a slightly younger audience, but is still just as good for an older teen.
Tallulah Casey has just embarked on an amazing journey to......YORKSHIRE! Why? Tallulah is going to attend Dother Hall for the summer, a performing arts school with an extremely eccentric headmistress - Ms Beaver. As tallulah begins to make friends in the tiny village, the majority of which seems to be populated solely by sheep, several things arise. Is this going to Tallulah's Summer of Lurve?!; will she ever grow into her hated knees?!; will she make a further idiot of herself in front of the towns bad boy- Cain Hinchcliff AND most importantly will the knock kneed, nutty, tree hugging, irish dancing Tallulah "Lullah" Casey make it into the academy with all her mega talented friends?!
You will not be disappointed! Clearly all of Georgia's relatives are just as nutty, cool and hilarious as her! The book is slightly slow to begin with but after the first few chapters you can really get your teeth into it!!! LOVE! Roll on Book 2!!

Withering Tights... 9 July 2010
By Jess
Format:Hardcover
After receiving my copy of 'Withering Tights' from Amazon on the day it came out, I sat down to read it after eagerly anticipating this day for many many months, and trust me the wait was well worth it.

The story is about 14 and a half year old Talullah who goes to a summer performing arts college in Yorkshire called Dother Hall. As the cousin of the loony Georgia Nicolson, Talullah has of course inherited her silliness, and hilarious view on life. With her new friends, and the boys from the all boys school not far away they are bound to have some unsupervised fun.

Louise Rennison has created another fantastic book; fans of the Georgia Nicolson series will not be disappointed. I do have to say though, it was extremely funny, however I found the Georgia Nicolson series funnier, this may only be because there are 10 of those books, and only one of this new series. I am sure as we get further into Tallulah's experiences at Dother Hall the series will become even better.

good story but... 22 Aug 2010
Format:Hardcover
As a avid reader of the previous Louise Rennison series, i was surprised when i came across the new book in waterstones, having heard nothing about a new series of books! It looked promisingly weird, (from the picture of an owl on the cover...) and the nice man at the counter said he had read it and loved it, so i got it.
i was slightly scared that this new book wouldn't live up to the Georgia books, but after the first few chapters i realised that it was just as good (thank god!) Tallulah, the main character, is every bit a quirky as her cousin, with the same wanderings about boys, adults, and her body. it was nice to have a change of scene as well, from a average town-life to a small village in Yorkshire. the only criticism, and the reason i didn't give it 5 stars, is that it is very similar to the Georgia books.
well worth the money, looking forward to the next book, entertaining read :]
