Susan Hayward like so many great actresses was to a certain extent wasted by the Hollywood studios [eg our own Jean Simmons]. It took till 1958 for her talents to be recognised when she won an Oscar for I WANT TO LIVE. Why she never won an academy award for With a Song in my Heart beggar's belief. I was only nine years of age when the film was shown at the cinema, and not really into musicals. It was not until later in life when I saw the film on TV, that I realised what a great movie I had missed. Along with other great musicals, I have now purchased the dvd. If you want to see a fantastic actress portraying a courageous lady and a great singer and you have a multiregion dvd player buy the dvd. Why Fox have not released it on region 2 along with other great films from their studio [eg The House in the Square] I shall never know.

Format:DVD
As a teenager (of some 15 years), I fell for this 20th Century-Fox musical hook, line and sinker. For me, Fox made some great musicals, even able to surpass MGM on occasion. I loved Susan Hayward in almost everything that she did, and this film did nothing to disillusion me. But, above all, it introduced me to the wonderful, seductively creamy Froman sound. And such a range of music from some of the greatest songwriters of the day. And Robert Wagner in one of his earlier roles. I could go on... Just get yourself a copy of this DVD, buy a chipped or region free player, sit back, and enjoy. It's a pity that the release year - 1952 - saw the release of the CinemaScope system; 'With a Song in my Heart' was just that little bit too early.

The film is great it is the story of Jane Froman a singer who changed seat on a flying boat that crashed and how she fought back to being a star again

Very pleased with my purchase of " With a song in my heart". Playing it brought back many good memories of my youth. A truely lovely film.

This Iran will not play meaning it cannot be watched. This was a disappointment as the product came quick but it just won't play

I ordered this item thinking it was just like any other DVD. Unaware that because it was shipped from the US, it wouldn't play on a british DVD player. Read more

why oh why
Being hard of hearing I need subtitles on a DVD or film etc. I find a lot of the older films put onto DVD do not have these subtitles what a great shame. Read more
