This series must be read in order. This is a set of books one and two.

Witchwood Estate - Going Home (bk 1) (Witchwood Estate - Episodic, short story series)

This story has loads of flashbacks to help you understand how Alexandria grew up and why she must leave her new home behind and go back to her ancestral estate. The writing is evocative and imaginative and though set in small towns it is on par with many urban fantasy series as well as urban paranormal series. Even though this is a novelette or short story series I truly enjoyed it!

The world contained within this short book series is amazing and visceral. I would recommend it to anyone who reads modern fantasy or paranormal mystery. You never know what will happen next and before you know it the book is over And you want MORE! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have :) I can't wait to read the next episode !!!

Witchwood Estate - Ferntree Falls (book 2 - Episodic series)

Alexandria has finally made it home and boy has it changed! But then I guess 12 years will do that... The town still has all its colonial charm and old-fashioned buildings but new buildings and danger lurk around unseen corners. Is Alexandria up for the homecoming she has been waiting for all her life or will she find she is in over her head?

I really don't want to say too much so as to not give away any surprises in the plot line... just let me say this book is full of enough suspense and supernatural elements to make up for it's episodic nature!

I liked the story line, but am disappointed that it is serial books, I have read all three but would have prefered a full book, I read a lot of trilogy books, but each book can be read as one. Will I read the rest of the series, I doubt it. Once Patti has finished with the series, they should be put together as one. But saying all this I still enjoyed the story so far.

Witchwood Estate - Books 1 & 2 & 3. Patti Roberts.

Arc provided by author
I need to start with a caveat. When I agreed to review these books I didn't realise they were an ongoing series, of short novellas rather than a traditional type of series, and that's something I never read, although I love traditional series. Still, I started with book one on Saturday and quickly became engrossed in the world of Witchwood. The description covers the storyline that's going to be revealed over a series of books, and each are a reasonably priced quick read. As I said its not how I prefer to read, but I'm a quick reader, I've friends who only have limited time to read and I'm sure they'd enjoy this type of book. It's certainly worked for womens magazines for many years, I can recall my mothers ones serialising books back in the sixties so though its new to e-books the format certainly works.
Its a beautifully descriptive book, full of evocative mystery and mood setting. I really feel as if I'm one with whatever scene Patti sets. I do feel its aimed at the Young Adult market and that's a genre I only dip into occasionally, but this is so well written that it will appeal to older readers too looking for something a bit different. I enjoyed the characters, there are a lot of them and I did find it difficult remembering just who was who, and where they fit in the tale but then for an ongoing series we need lots of people to carry the story and keep it interesting. The basic plot is laid out but its early in the series so far, and though I've an idea where the story is going its very open as to what adventures are going to be revealed, and what sort of magic and mystical creatures it will contain.

SPELLBINDING!!!! 21 July 2013
By Darlene - Published on Amazon.com

I have received this book as a gift, from the author Patti Roberts. In exchange for my honest review of her book.
I read this book a couple of weeks ago and have been trying to think how to give the book and Patti justice.
You see, the book is truly a work of genius!!!
The main character is a young girl by the name of Alexandria, by she goes by Alex. And after many years of being of being away from her home ; she is finally going home. She is going to claim her birth right. Witchwood Estate. a long her journey other she meets a young man by the name of Andrew(who is a ghost).
Now the estate has always belonged to her and is the home of all her family 's spirits.
The plot is pure captivating and imitative!!! The way that the author works the magic spells into the story is so awesome. The scenes and the characters come alive right before your eyes.

This book is totally Genius!!! And it is a MUST read for ya and even adults. I give this book a total of 20stars even though I can only put 5 stars . Patti Roberts you are awesome and Genius and your imagination is truly amazing.

Magical 31 May 2013
By M Medler - Published on Amazon.com

I have a confession to make. I have put off writing this review for what feels like eternity, and I still don't think I'm ready. You see, my problem is that I don't trust myself to do these books justice.

When you find an author with a style so perfect, so entrancing, that you know full well you'd read their shopping list if that's what they decided to publish, what could you say to make a difference? I'm supposed to be good with words, but they fail me now. So I guess I'll just have to stick to being as objective and clinical as I can. Here's what I thought of the first two books in the Witchwood Estate series.

First impression: I would read this series 'till the world came to an end. I secretly hope Patti Roberts never ever stops writing. Her imagination is unequalled.

Voice: smooth storytelling, trance-inducing, the kind that seeps into your brain and surreptitiously replaces reality with a fantastic life you couldn't help but want to be a part of.

Plot: Oh, how many possibilities! From a simple intro and clear focus, the action picks up and threads of intrigue, mystery and hidden threats begin to weave into the main fabric. As more characters are introduced, their purpose and intent are implied, understood, twisted and finally revealed to be something no one could have foreseen. There are enough twists in there for at least another ten books! And I want to read them all.

Characters: perfectly formed, from the smallest secondary role to the protagonist. Alexandria is the kind of best friend all of us need. Andrew is so sweet, and his character has so much yet-untapped potential. Then, there is black magic, and shape-shifters, and ghosts.

Descriptions: original and just right for forming the right picture. I felt as if I knew my way around, right there, in the story.

Extras: Flick through the pages, and you'll find spells Alexandria has inherited from her mother. There are illustrations accompanying the spells, with lists of ingredients, method, verses and chants to make the spells work. Patti Roberts' artistic abilities are well-known, but still, this is a very inspired little detail that adds depth and value to the story.

Emotion: The author's ability to share a character's emotion is incredible. Living as an outcast, or at least someone different, comes across very well at the beginning of this series, and is presented with a kindness not many people are capable of. My eyes teared up because I could imagine or identify with many of the sentiments the characters were dealing with, even in this limited portion of the story.

The overall effect is of being at one with the book. Flawless in every way, the writing is exceptional. I fell head-first into the magic and I can't wait to see where the story is heading next. A beautiful, modern tale about a witch and what it takes to make your own way in life. This is a six-star book, at the very least.

What an imagination. This is not the genre I usually read, but I kept seeing this book on facebook and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. What an imagination this author has. I used to read a lot of Anne Rice's books and I always did like the witch's series better than her vampire series. I have always been intrigued with witches. This book is an esay read and easy to follow. The character development is wonderful. The book moves along at a good pace and the development of the plot is very good. If you like young adult novels, try this one. I think you will really enjoy it.

Great series - has it all wonderfully wrapped in one package 21 July 2013
By Sheryl Painter - Published on Amazon.com

Patti Roberts has created a wonderful YA paranormal series. The series introduces interesting characters, fantastic story line, and well-written suspense. I enjoyed how the author was able to give small bouts of back-story as the novel moved quickly forward, getting little bits and pieces of the past throughout. By not spending a large part of the beginning of the series bringing the reader up to present, Ms. Roberts grabbed me quickly and completely. The end of book one and start of book two was so seamless I didn't realize right away I'd finished the first half - there was no tireless rehash of the story like some authors use. The story never slowed down, the characters kept me guessing, and the end of book two came WAY too quickly. By the end of book 2, I felt all the emotions the character had went through, and dreaded turning each page knowing the end was coming. I also appreciated that it was well edited, I did not have to spend time mentally making corrections as I read - you will not be distracted with this author! I was given this book by the author, who asked only for an honest review. I can honestly state that this is a great paranormal series, has characters you care about, and would be perfect for both young and not-so-young readers. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys being entertained by creative authors with a great story to tell. I cannot wait to start the 3rd book, to see where Ms. Roberts takes me. I've added Patti Roberts to my list of authors I look for when looking for my next book! You should as well, you will not be disappointed.
