Product Description

Product Description

An old magic carpet causes all sorts of trouble for Wilf, the Witch's Dog and his friends. Sly Cat and Tricky Toad don't help - they are back to their old sneaky ways. First some magic just sends Streaky flying into the air, then a magical carpet turns into a jungle complete with its very own tiger! Finally Wilf goes on a magical, but dangerous roller-coaster ride. It's a good job that Wilf is so clever - he puts everything right and even has a brilliant idea about what to do with the old flying carpet.

I really love the Wilf books because they aren't tedious to sit through! The author writes a captivating story and the language use in them is great. The author appears not to simplify his language but because of all the pictures my son was not intimidated.

He was so caught up in the story that he wouldn't give up even though he is usually a timid reader. I was amazed at some of the words he just breezed over or managed to sound out because he really wanted to. I finally had to insist we continue the book the next night because he was so tired he could barely enunciate the words he was reading.

These books also had him reading quietly to himself for the first time. He still laughs and talks about the part of this story where Sly and Tricky get their comeuppance. He loves the series so much that he took the first book with him to his first day of school as his summer memory. He even said he wanted to read it to the class!

I tend to feel books for young readers are expensive but I would be glad to pay for every one of the Wilf books. They get read and reread and talked about to anyone who dares to listen. Most importantly, they have inspired him and reading is now his favorite subject. We have not read a Wilf book that we didn't like.
