5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute gem - unmissable, 9 Mar 2005

This book is absolutely fantastic. The witch's children are out and about catching the bus to the palace and that means trouble. They have the great idea of changing Gemma, a little girl who has forgotten her bus fare, into a goose that lays golden eggs, but they don't know how to turn her back. En route, they magic the bus and passengers into a wondrous flying carpetful of sultan and courtiers which flies to the palace and causes havoc. The Queen and the Duke (a very familiar looking duo with their little dog) think enough is enough and so the children summon their mother to put things right. It's a hilarious lively story for children aged 3 plus and their parents, and the funky stylized illustrations are every bit as marvellous. If you loved 'The Witch's Children' then you'll be equally thrilled by this sequel as it is every bit as good, and if you haven't yet discovered it buy them both. Don't forget to keep your eyes open for the tiny frog, mouse and the bats throughout.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, very funny dig at the Royals!, 11 Jul 2009

We bought this book from a second hand dealer on Amazon (save the planet from global warming - make a future for you children's children!)
What an excellent, well written and extremely funny book. Tongue in cheek humour about the Royals. But also teaches the children that our monachy still has a purpose (bless them).
A must read for any child aged 4 to 104!
