3.0 out of 5 stars Mainly lacking 3 Jan 2007
By K. Brimelow - Published on
I got this on a whim. I did not expect much to be sure, but I think I expected more. At the beginning of every day, there is a colour of the day and an incense of the day. Then a little spell or affirmation for every day and for certain days also a bit of historical "trivia". I have read ahead a few days because I wanted to see if I needed to pick up any supplies, etc. And was so disappointed. Most days have affirmations and sort of "healthy emotional" living tips rather than spells. Those days with spells have such basic spells that it is almost silly to waste your time. Worse, as every day has an incense (and they never explain why that day has that incense) the spells that involve incense almost never include the daily incense, making you think really hard about why that spell on that day. Further more, the bits of historical trivia I got to included information on recognized Catholic Saints, hardly the sort of thing a pagan looks for in a spell book.

What I can say is that I will use it over the next year because it records the moon phases and hopefully an idea sparks my interest or a great herbal tea comes into my life...

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and useful 31 May 2007

I found this book to contain much more than merely "spells." I enjoyed the bits of folklore and trivia and the fact that it appeals to just about anyone who is open-minded on any spiritual path. I like the self-affirming attitude of this book and have found something useful each day so far. I don't mind if things in the spell don't seem to match up with the daily incense or color - the spells are useful year round.

Enjoyed it thoroughly. I found some information useful for my path and some other information of no use. Would highly recommend.

The Llewellyn Spell A Day Almanac is hands down the best one out there. I've looked at plenty of other almanacs. This is the only one that even comes close to what I want. Everyone should buy these (and let me know if you see 2001 and 2002 available for purchase anywhere!)

I liked this and found this so informational that I bought 2008 and plan on getting 2009. Gives you something for everyday of the year.
