5.0 out of 5 stars "Elemental Witches" series book 2 15 Mar 2008
By Book Addict TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
In "Witch Blood" we meet water witch Isabelle Novak; a woman willing to be branded a warlock (a renegade witch) if it means getting her hands on those responsible for the horrific murder of her sister Angela. Disguising both her appearance and magick Isabelle carefully integrates herself into the life of Stefan Faucheaux, the leader of the Duskoff (a warlock organisation) and the man she holds accountable for the release of the demon which tortured and drained her sister of her magick before slaughtering her. Yet finally in a position to kill this evil warlock, Isabelle's momentary lapse gives the Coven (the Duskoff's enemy) the opportunity to secure Stefan in their custody and place him on trial for the murder of several witches (events which occur in book 1 "Witch Fire").

Finally meeting Thomas Monahan; a powerful earth witch and the leader of the Coven, Isabelle finds herself working with him and other witches to hunt and destroy a demon which is targeting the magickal population; the very demon which killed Angela. The human identity of this demon is soon discovered; however he proves himself a formidable foe both physically and magickally; a seemingly unbeatable enemy until Isabelle gets up close and personal with him and accidentally discovers a hidden weakness. Although Isabelle is lucky to escape with her life, she's told by the demon himself that it's only a matter of time before he comes for her; the last witch he is required to sacrifice in order to return to his home world.

Isabelle is a wonderful heroine; ready to face her greatest fears and fight to the death if necessary, yet this strong leading lady has realistic vulnerabilities hidden beneath her tough façade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping 21 Jun 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
A water witch, Isabelle Novak has always led a chaotic, nomadic existence. But her life spins out of control when her sister--her only friend and emotional anchor--is killed by a demon. Driven by grief and a desire for revenge, she turns her back on the Coven and the rede they hold sacred: Harm thee none...

When Isabelle first encounters Thomas Monahan, she's running on pure rage and sorrow, channeling her pain into power--and trying to freeze the life out of a warlock she holds responsible for her sister's death. Together, they form an uneasy alliance to hunt and destroy a demon of tremendous power. As head of the Coven, earth witch Thomas must thwart Isabelle's dark impulses, but his very presence stirs deeper desires she never knew she had...

Absolutely loved the story after reading the first (Witch Fire). Would definately recommend it if you like J.R Ward, Lara Adrian, Yasmine Galenorn.

5.0 out of 5 stars I have a new love for witches! 15 May 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This was an amazing book and I would definitely recommend. I had never really been interested in reading about witches but after this experience, I couldn't help myself and now I read everything. It was a page-turner and really HOT. It was also funny with incredible characters who you could understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 22 Oct 2012

I cant get enough of this series!! While the story is superb, what really intrigues me with the series is the characters. They are detailed, emotional and royally messed up that I feel such an affinity with them. Its like you become part of them, happy with them and cry with them. Just a brilliant writer with an amazing imagination. X

2.0 out of 5 stars NO! NO! Please don't make me... 28 Dec 2011

ever EVER read another Anya Bast book. This was a waste of an hour of my life that I'll never get back. Truly terrible in just about every way: the characters are all 'hot' and go at it like rabid rabbits but the sex is all 'slot A into tab B' stuff - which actually makes it rather dull. Oh yeh, the characters are all 'hot' too and dress in leather or rubber whilst calling up magickal forces... bored now! Frankly, the musclebound studs left me cold, they were so one dimensional. God forbid that a male character should actually exercise the muscle at the other end of his body! LOL! Taking a leaf out of LKH's book methinks! The female characters generated NO empathy whatsoever, again, they were TSTL with the redeeming qualities of a dead goldfish. Story arc - you mean there was one? Just a series of 'vignettes' (I use the term loosely) to link the rather turgid sex scenes. Not even a bonkfest just a blahfest. Or to use the correct term: wallbanger!

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh... 4 Aug 2011

Bit of a bonkfest and not much to really invest in otherwise. Dont get me wrong, I love a good 'paranormal romance', but when there are sooo many sex scenes that you actually find yourself scanning past them for a change, its a worry! At least in the latest Laurell K Hamilton books she threw in a few more men to make it interesting ;)
It was an ok read, and the action was HOT but due to the story itself being a little thin, I wouldnt say it was in the league of J.R Ward, Jeaniene Frost, Karen Chance, Kresley Cole, Larissa Ione et al.

5.0 out of 5 stars Witch Blood 24 Jun 2010
By AngelGoneMad VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Witch Blood is the second instalment in the Elemental Witches series by Anya Bast. If you like action, love scenes and demons then this is the book for you. It's jam packed with them all.

Isabelle Novak is a very powerful water witch and is tracking a demon, but not just any demon. This demon killed her sister Angela. Isabelle is out for revenge. In her quest to find the demon, she has an encounter with the Coven and is taken into their protection and gets more than she bargained for in the shape of Thomas Monahan, leader of the Coven.

I was quite simply enthralled with this book. I loved Isabelle's strong, independent character and her carefree travelling lifestyle. It seems to suit her to a tee until she meets Thomas Monahan that is. That man would definitely make you want to stay in one place. Thomas is caring, loving, very powerful and dominant. This is everything that Isabelle needs from man, especially the dominance. Thomas is the perfect match for her. But will she run away or will she stay?

It's really hard to pick a favourite scene or chapter of the book as I enjoyed it all. But if I had to pick one moment, I think it would have to be during a moment between Thomas and Isabelle when she is learning more about his earth magick and how and where he stores it. I thought that was a really informative and intimate at the same time.

Overall, this book was a really enjoyable read and I am certainly going to continue with the series. I loved every minute that I read of the book and couldn't put it down at times. The ending chapters really shocked me as I didn't expect what happened and I love it when that happens. Witch Blood is definitely a page turner.

Disclaimer: I do not own this book, I borrowed it from the local library.
