A beautiful series 24 April 2012
By Colette - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
The Time of Transition series by Gabi Stevens is just magical. The heroines are smart, sassy, headstrong and likable. The heroes are swoon-worthy, make me sigh and are actually *gasp* nice guys. This series is about three women who grow up thinking that they aren't magical, then when they turn 27 discover that they are fairy godmothers. However, a plan is underfoot that must be stopped. In the first two books we meet Kristen and Regina, who defy the magical council to stop the plan that turn the magical world upside down.

Stormy has two dads who are both magical, and while she hasn't grown up in the magic world because she doesn't have any powers, she has heard enough snippets to know the Fairy Godmothers are on the run. Stormy knew the old Fairy Godmothers, and finds it hard to believe they and the new Fairy Godmothers are the criminals that the council makes them out to be. Stormy is a weaver by trade, and is hard at work on her newest creation when she gets a surprise visit from the Old Godmothers telling her she is the last of the new Fairy Godmothers. (it sounds confusing, but isn't, I promise!!) Before she can blink, they are gone and the council guards have arrived to arrest the Godmothers. They don't get there in enough time to arrest them, but Stormy is placed under the watchful eye of two guards who work for the council: Hunter and Tank.

Hunter believes everything the magical council has told him about the Godmothers-that they are the bad guys. He sets out to protect Stormy at all costs. Hunter was so stubborn that I wanted to strangle him at times!! However, what I loved about him was that he was always there for Stormy when she needed him to be there. I loved watching him struggle for his feelings about Stormy and everything that he's been told.Stormy was great because she didn't take crap for anyone. She managed to protect those she cared about while following her instincts. I loved it when she would get mad at Hunter for not seeing the obvious. I loved how she took charge of everything. The villain in this story is one from previous books, and he just makes my skin crawl. He's always trying to nab one of the new Fairy Godmothers as his own and I love watching him come crashing down when his plans fall.

I loved how we got to see some beloved characters from the past books, but at times I felt like the overall story line took away just a tad of the romance between Hunter and Stormy. I realize why it took them awhile to realize they were meant to be together, but I so wanted to shake Hunter and tell him to hurry up and come to his senses!!

This series is all about friendship, family, discovering who you are, good vs evil and sweet romance. This is one paranormal series that is going on my keeper shelf.

A Fun Read! 6 May 2012

The third in Gabi Steven's fairy godmother trilogy, WISHFUL THINKING, held up to its promise as a fun read. Stormy has to face becoming a fairy godmother and giving up her life's work in a difficult time when the threat of an Arcani-Groundling war could destroy the world. Only the new fairy godmothers have a chance to save it. And Stormy turns for help to the one person whose job it is to keep her away from her godmother sisters.

As with the first two books in this series, I thoroughly enjoyed the read, and devoured the book in one sitting. What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday!

My favorite of the series! 8 May 2012

First Thought when Finished: My favorite of the series!

What I Loved: Hunter and Stormy together made a great couple. I loved that Stormy was strong-willed, willing to search for answers on her own, and willing to stand for her beliefs even if it meant not having Hunter in her life. Hunter was an amazing man: strong, loyal, handsome, and at all times honorable. Their love story is my favorite as it just felt organic and natural.

What I Liked: Finally all 3 "new" godmothers together. Their personalities just meshed perfectly together and I could see in the future they were going to have lots of fun (and drive those men of theirs insane) :) I am always a big fan of books that end with strong friendships and this one delivered on that. There were some emotional moments, I cried---twice, and there were some fun moments (can I have Tank? I will be his HEA). This was just a well-balanced story that really gave me a fantastic feeling at the end.

Final Thought: I really did enjoy each of the books in the Time of Transition series. While I have no idea if there are going to be more (I hope there is) this is a world that I just adore. If you like Fairy Godmothers, hot guys, and a little wish granting then these stories are for you!

Gabi Stevens does it again! 25 April 2012

I've tried to read other romance authors and am getting frustrated...Gabi Stevens has set the bar for me on enjoyable romance novels. The first one in the Time of Transition series hooked me and this latest one does not disappoint.

Steven's books pass the Bechdel Test for female characters (this is used for movies, but can be applied to books too): She has at least two female characters with names, they talk to each other, and they talk about something other than a man. Her male characters are engaging and non-clueless, and I love that the steamy scenes in this one are largely from the man's perspective. This one does not delve overmuch into either the system of magic in this world, or the larger plot except to wrap things up with the Big Baddie, but that's what the first two books are for. This is a very fast, fun read, with likable characters.

Don't overthink it, just enjoy the ride!

I bought this book for my friend but of course I had to read it first when it came in. I have read the other two and was not disappointed when I finished this one. This author is great. This series is wonderful and can't wait for her to write another book.
