Fleur Bosley didn’t believe in love at first sight, at least not until she bumped into Robbie Rodwell on a railway station in the blackout of wartime Britain. Posted to a newly-built Lincolnshire airfield, Robbie as a wireless operator on bombers and Fleur as a R/T operator in the watch office, their only escape is to the little cottage in the nearby village where Fleur is billeted with another WAAF, Ruth. The two girls become good friends, but Ruth, already hurt by the loss of one of the pilots, does not approve of wartime romances. And Ruth is not the only one to disapprove. When Fleur’s mother hears Robbie’s name she becomes hysterical and bans him from her home. The young couple are determined to grab their happiness where they can, but is it a kind Fate or a cruel one that has brought them together when secrets from the past threaten their future? Away from their families, there is fun and laughter, the aircrews determined to make the most of every day, every minute, but whenever they fly off into the night on a bombing raid, Fleur must keep watch until the early hours praying that Robbie’s plane comes back . . .
About the Author
Born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, Margaret Dickinson moved to the coast at the age of seven and so began her love for the sea and the Lincolnshire landscape, around which many of her novels are set. Her ambition to be a writer began early at the age of twenty-five. This was followed by twenty further titles, including her most recent Pauper's Gold. Wish Me Luck is the sequel to Without Sin. Margaret Dickinson is married with two grown-up daughters, and lives in Lincolnshire.

Fleur Bosley is a hard working member of the WAAF, while on leave she meets Robbie Rodwell. When Robbie and Fleur its love at first sight for the young couple. But when they meets their parents it a different story. Robbie's mom is upset but she is happy for her son. But Fleur mom makes it clear that that daughter is not to spend time with "her son." But in wartime, time is short and Fleur and Robbie want to be happy at any cost.
"Wish Me Luck" is the first book that I have read by Margaret Dickinson and it was really great. Ms. Dickinson gave her characters real emotions and I can't wait to read more by her.

i love Margaret Dickinson's books and this one did not disappoint. if anything it was too good a read as i could not put it down and stayed up all night reading it.

I enjoyed reading this book until I got to the end, I was surprised the story only went over a year and finished in 1942! so we have no idea if Robbie survived the war or if Jake lived. A very disappointing end to what should have been a great book. I am sorely disappointed in Margaret Dickinson.

I needed more than luck with this
Not my poison this novel and it was a battle to finish it. I didn't realise it was a sequel to a previous novel so probably I made a mistake reading it. Read more
