5.0 out of 5 stars So glad I discovered John Locke 9 Jan. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a follow on book from Saving Rachel (A Donovan Creed Crime Novel) and it doent disapoint, though you don't have to have read saving rachel this book can stand alone. Buddy Pancake hears though a friend about a website that grants a person 4 wishes, anything they want. Buddy doesnt believe its real and sees it as a bit of a laugh so when his wife Lissie is asleep one night he creeps downstairs and puts in his wishes to the website, without reading the small print. When his wishes start coming true he soon realises that his life is in danger and that of his wifes. As Buddy tries to piece the jigsaw together he is made to do and watch things that will shock and devestate him to his very core. This is a fast paced book with lots of twists and turns i felt a bit dizzy! Though it was worth it.John Locke has the ability in his writing to create a suspenseful thriller while at the same time make you laugh out loud. this book is a must read. Its not overly long so the suspense never ends and keeps you engrossed until the last page.

4.0 out of 5 stars A book that has everything 15 Jan. 2011
By karen
Format:Kindle Edition
Wish List is the first John Locke book I have read. I downloaded it after reading the reviews, as its not the type of book I would normally read....but it was great. Firstly it was funny, then it changed to suspense then horror. The only thing that let it down was its quite short. I have now downloaded his other books in the hope they are as good as this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish List 9 Mar. 2011
By MaxJEF
Format:Kindle Edition
This was great, the pace never lets up and you can't guess what the next twist might be. If anything, I was disappointed that this is a relatively short book, but that didn't (and shouldn't) detract from the enjoyment of a good story.

3.0 out of 5 stars could do better 9 Jan. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
short book that I too finished in one sitting and the fact that I finished it says that it isn't completely bad - I wonder how old the author is .... not the worst book I have read and a great idea he probably had in the bath one night - but nah sorry enough already with the second half of the book - really got ticked off by that part

I bought this for my Kindle so only spent 40p or so - it was fine - had I spent £10 I would be cross - if you like to snigger at a book and lose count of the dead bodies then this is the book for you. I do wish the idea had been developed and given much more maturity and depth, potentially it could have been really wonderful.

4.0 out of 5 stars INTERESTING READ 31 Jan. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I purchased this book based on the high ratings and it did not disappoint. I consider it a bargain at 99 cents. This book is full of intriguing characters and after reading it, I immediately looked for more in the Donovan Creed series.

This book has Donovan Creed (former CIA agent) take a back seat for the sad tale of Buddy Pancake. Buddy is an average middle-aged guy who is mislead by a childhood friend into joining an online website called The Wishlist where four wishes are granted. Too bad most people didn't read the fine print which detailed the possible high price for each wish granted. This story was original and very entertaining to read. At the beginning, I thought Donovan Creed was a creep and Buddy Pancake the hero but by the end, I had reversed my opinion - somewhat. Donovan Creed was still creepy but in a nicer way. This is the first book I have read by this author and it made me want to read more about Donovan Creed and Rachael. This story stands alone but reading previous works in this series might have added more to all the back stories.

The idea that when properly motivated, people will go to any lengths even those who would protest otherwise was penned with a dark sardonic twist. It made for fast page turning and I finished this book in one reading. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in dark thrillers.

I gave this 2 stars for the following:

1/ It was Cheap
2/ It was Short.

A good idea that ran out of steam very quickly. Nothing else to add really.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Idea - but disappointing 28 Jan. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
4 wishes for anything without reading the small print. Great idea, how many times have we thought "I wish ....". Just a shame it all felt too rushed to finish at the end. I have got another John Locke to read to give him another go. Very quick read, about 3 hours, ok for commuting but not one to curl up with for an evening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scary, Surreal, Superb 25 Mar. 2011
By Joe
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Starts off very 'normal',some ordinary people shooting the breeze, then swoops into scary and dark territory, and finishes off quite surreal, I dont want to say anymore in case I give too much away. A shortish but good read, couldn't put it down and had to just 'burn' through it in one go to see what happens.
