Product Description

Product Description

With over a thousand sparkling quotes and quips chosen by broadcaster Ned Sherrin, editor of the Oxford Dictionary of Humorous Quotations, I Wish I'd Said That offers something for everyone, from spicing up a speech or presentation, to simply wanting to smile. With themes ranging from Acting to Parties, Marriage to The Weather, you can take your pick of the wittiest remarks on any subject. Authors range from classics such as Oscar Wilde and Noel Coward to today's comedians Ricky Gervais and Jo brand, and of course the inadvertent humorists such as Donald Rumsfeld and David Beckham. 'Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.' Groucho Marx on Books 'It may be that the race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong-but that's the way to bet.' Damon Runyon on Gambling 'I'm not offended because I know I'm not dumb. I also know I'm not a blonde.' Dolly Parton on Insults 'Life is a banquet, and some poor suckers are starving to death.' Auntie Mame on Life 'When you marry your mistress, you create a job vacancy' James Goldsmith on Marriage 'I think fidelity is a very good idea - now that I can't walk.' John Mortimer on Morality 'They misunderestimated me.' George W. Bush on Self-Knowledge
